3 Months old . . .and a week
Dear Margo,
You turned three months old this past Sunday. I guess 'tis the season for socializing, because I haven't had the time to sit down and write you a letter - we've had too much going on.
You have been amazing me lately, doing new things all the time. Papa mentioned that you know how to make a razzing sound now - you love to do this all the time! We've had you laughing out loud like crazy a few times - too cute for words. Your movements are getting far more deliberate. Today you were on your play mat and you wanted to get to your new orange bunny, which was dangling just beyond your reach. I heard you grunting a little bit - not mad, just trying to figure out how to reach it. The next time I glanced over you were completely on your side, chewing on bunny's ear. Bravo, ma fille!
Another first - you had your first photo shoot this month - with N snapping some great shots of you (featured in outgoing Christmas cards). I'm sure I'm biased, but you definitely have the cutest yawn in town.

You went to your first movie this week, The Holiday, at the big theatre in Gloucester. They screen movies every two weeks for babies and parents - you didn't let me sit down for much of it, you threw up on my shirt, and I had to change your diaper not once but twice during the movie, but it was a good experience all the same. (Maybe I'm just hard up for a movie experience). We went with some new friends, and have even been invited to join a playgroup. Score!
You had your first child care experience this week, as well. We attended part II of Making Your Own Baby Food, a class offered at the Centretown Community Health Centre. This week the moms were in the kitchen cooking up some yummy dishes such as applesauce, squash with apples, and couscous, chicken and carrots, and comparing them with store-bought versions. (Note to self: keep to your plan to make your own babyfood - that store bought stuff doesn't taste nearly as good as homemade!). In the next room over, the 9 babies were being tended to by 4 childcare workers. During the class, I heard you crying (weird that I can pick your cry out of a bunch of cries), so I went to check on you. I fished you out of the bouncy chair they had placed you in, and put you on your back on my big scarf down on a mat. After we had finished eating, I checked in on you, and there you lay, kicking your feet and munching on your hands, happy as a clam. Each of the childcare workers was holding a baby and bouncing another in a bouncy chair, and you lay in the middle of this, amusing yourself. Good girl, but reinforces my theory that in institutional child care the loudest cry gets the most attention.

I think this month I'm getting my mama groove on . . . I feel like I'm getting out of that dewy eyed new mama state - I'm getting to know you better, and we're having a lot of fun together. The days go by all too quickly, with so many activities to do. . massage class on Monday! Baby food class on Tuesday! Stars and Strollers movie on Wednesday! Babes and their Babes do Lunch at Kelly's on Thursday! (thanks Kelly - way too yummy!). Tomorrow we're going to take a breather and get our Christmas cards/parcels mailed out . . later than intended but at least they're going out before we leave for the Prairies (in 4 sleeps!)
Your fourth month is going to include some serious family time, with your first Christmas and lots of hugs and squeezes from Grandma, Grandpa, Grandmaman, Grandpapa, various Taties/Tontons/Aunties/Uncles and COUSINS!! Your back will likely never hit the floor. Your Papa and I will be sure and snap lots of pictures of these important meetings.

I love you to bits,
Mom
