Sunday Brunch
Sunday. What a great and relaxed day. A time when you can sleep in, slowly get up, and have people over for brunch, which is exactly what we did today. Donna made a delicious bacon and aged gouda quiche and homefries, and we mixed it up with some nice greens. Our friends brought some really rich, thick juice over, and, of course, we had some nice, fresh coffee.
Well, we had been up for at least a couple of hours before our friends came over, and had a coffee first thing in the morning, so I guess the coffee with brunch was our second coffee.
Now that I think about it, our second and third cups of coffee. But it's Sunday afternoon, plenty of time to burn it off before bedtime. I think I may have swigged the last little bit out of the carafe instead of emptying it out.
Oh, yeah, and then another friend dropped in, and brought chocolates, the kind that taste great with coffee. So we had coffee good coffee, maybe a little weak so better have two cups because we took it with cream so it really wasn't very strong. Does chocolate have caffeine? I don't know no I think it does, but just a little, not as much as it has sugar, so it's okay.
Suppertime, better lay off the coffee it's getting late but what would go best with yesterday's leftovers maybe a soft drink what do we have in the fridge oh just take the first soft drink you grab heylookit'saDietCokethatwillgonicelywithroastbeefandit'sgoingdownsogood.

In retrospect, maybe the caffeine explains Margo/MarMon's behaviour today. We kept on commenting how different she seemed, and when we would lay her down on her playmat, she wouldn't so much play as recite all of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, backwards, in Pig Latin, like a 33 1/3 record on 78.
She was also easy to startle. Quick movements were met with bolting of her head. And she would shake her head left, right, left, right. This motion isn't that uncommon, but today, the frequency she was emitting was summoning hummingbirds and causing bats' sonar to jam up.
Mood swings. Five minute naps. More than average spit up, and FOUR clothing changes from an overactive bladder. Caffeine, fyi, is a diaretic.
And an hour and a half after she normally yawns and falls asleep, she was laughing and, well, it's hard to describe, but... buzzing. Is that the word I'm looking for? Hoverbuzz would cover it, I guess.
So everytime that MarMon would start winding down, coming down from her high, we read it as her being hungry, so Donna would feed her, and juice her up with second-hand coffee.
My favourite reaction would have to be her 5 o'clock feeding, where she contentedly lie there sucking, eyes closed, in her routine, with the sole exception of her right leg twitching and shaking like a hunting dog dreaming of chasing rabbits. GO GET 'EM, MARGO, SIC 'EM!!!

We've made a conscious decision to switch to decaf.

MY favourite was when, at the 11:30 pm feeding, Marmon was contendly sucking away, and then sucked loudly, causing her to startle herself and wake up from a sleep. Ah yes. Decaf regime begins tomorrow.
I'd feel like a bad mother but there's lots of time for guilt.

Ah, if Margo could talk. Wait a minute...I saw that 30 second tape. She does talk! And she's quite sociable too by the looks of the recording.
Did I mention she's too darm cute?
