The Happy Traveller
Margo and I have returned from our trip to Saskatchewan. I am so happy to report that Margo travelled very, very well. The trip there was pretty decent, with a few minor crying bouts on the airplane, but the trip back was way too impressive. The little peach daughter of mine never cried, and considering it was a three hour drive, a half hour wait at the airport, followed by a three hour flight, close to 2 hours in Toronto and then an hour flight home, I was extremely impressed with this little one. What a trooper!
It was very exciting to deplane in Ottawa to see Michel. I am happy that I still get butterflies when I'm about to see this guy after a few days away, and I was very interested to see how Margo would react to seeing her papa. Poor thing was too tired and it was not perhaps the reunion I had hoped for. I'm not sure he even got a smile! But by yesterday she was back to her papa loving self, which was good to see.
We had fun with the fam, and I was really glad that my mom and dad got a chance to get to know Margo a little better. I think they may even miss us, although I'm sure that my mom is glad to have her garbage can back in her kitchen (we had to keep it hidden in the porch for the duration of our visit).
Margo enjoyed terrorizing my parents' dog, Charlie. Charlie is a special dog, a bit spoiled but lovable. He will do pretty much anything for a rub, including waiting around a potentially dangerous creature who descend on all fours and pulls his ears and tails intermittently. It was
We spent Saturday night at Uncle Dan and Auntie Laurie's Cabin at Tobin Lake. It was enlightening for me to spend an evening observing my two teenaged nieces and their two friends. Now I know what I'm in for, and it ain't always pretty. Several teenaged boys were "cruising" the cabin in search of the girls. All night. The girls, meanwhile, were hiding (only not so very well, kinda like Charlie). Thankfully, Margo was asleep and therefore didn't get any ideas. She did try and make a mixed drink or two. First the rum, then the vodka, and she had to work pretty hard to get out the kahlua, but she managed.
Margo had her first dairy queen ice cream, and ate lots of watermelon. She got lots of facetime with G and G, and messed up Grandma's house pretty good. She attended the Seniors' picnic in White Fox and charmed the entire senior's community while chewing on the chicken bone of the Minister for Regional Economic and Co-operative Development of Saskatchewan. She saw lots of animals at Auntie Laurie's house, and has proven t
hat she is, most definitely, a cat person. Too bad Auntie's cats didn't return the love.
Margo even honed her negotiation skills in an attempt to get Grandpa to give up his remote. While it didn't work, it was cute to watch her try.
Thanks, Mom and Dad for a great week. Love you! When are YOU coming to visit?

Welcome back! I am glad to hear that she travelled so well.
Hold that time close to your heart Donna. Treausure it. Think back on it and sigh contentedly, because one day before you know it Margo will be two. OH YES! TWO!! (maniacal laughter).

Donna, I was anxious to see how things went, Margo proved that she was able to pull it off, just like she did going to Montreal.
She seems to be right at home in the pictures.
Now I have to say to Marcel and Monica, "isn't she the most precious little girl?"
I have such good thoughts of her and her parents, from when I went to Ottawa.
The pictures I have come out quite often to show them off.
By the way Donna and Michel I received the pictures that you sent.
They are so good, thanks, love you, Grandmaman.
