Hot Times in the City

It's been hot this week. We are wannabe envirostars and so are doing our bit and not partaking in the technology that is air-conditioning. So how can one mama and one baby cool down on a hot summer day?

Wading pool. Last one in is a rotten egg.

One of the major scores at the recent Great Glebe Garage Sale was a wading pool for the backyard. Priced at just $5, it was a great find. I remember this very pool from my childhood. It's shaped like a turtle, with a cover that is shaped like a turtle shell. It has googly eyes. It's a lot smaller than I remember (or I'm much bigger) but the pool has served us well this week on three steamy afternoons.

On Tuesday Margo and I had a lovely afternoon in the backyard, and after much coaxing and several tries, Margo sat in the cool water and stayed there for close to 45 minutes. Her feet were pruny when she emerged, but she was cooler, and life was good. I dipped my feet and legs in as well and can imagine many afternoons spent in this way. Nice shady backyard, cool water in a sippy cup, lots of bath toys, what more could a baby want?

When it gets too hot, you can always head over here - we have cetnral a/c...being wannabe enviro-death-stars.

Those pools are great. I think I had that turtle one too.

Donna, that is such a cute pool, I have never seen one with a cover.
I can imagine that Margo loves it,especially to play in the water.
I am sure you will all enjoy watching her play in it for a long time.

Have fun Margo.
Hope that the mosquitoes don't bite you.
We have a lot of them here because it is raining and it is also very muggy.
