Idiosyncracies

We all have them... quirks, hang-ups, habits. Some people chew their nails, others dot every "i" with a heart. Donna and I even know someone who pretends to strum a guitar when he plays charades, regardless of who or what he's trying to convey. Like "Antarctica..." better strum that air guitar faster, cuz we're not getting it.

You'll never guess what Margo's thing is.

Not in a million years.

Toe lint.

In the bath. Taking her boots off. Picking something off the ground to eat (hey, we're just passing grade parents... I never said that we were great parents.) Anytime that she takes notice of her feetsies, it's guaranteed that her toes will soon be free and clear of terrorist lint.

above: Ecstasy, soon followed by a sense that maybe,
just maybe, we're laughing at, and not with, her.

I don't get it, but I guess that's what makes it an idiosyncracy. And it seems harmless enough. We just won't be visiting any yarn & felt factories, open-toe sandal stores or pedicurists with her anytime soon.

She also doesn't like carpet lint, which, given the light shade of our carpet, can mean looooooooooong trips up the stairs, when she's in the mood to clean the carpet (and hand every lint back to me).

That is different and funny, but, heh, that might be the beginning of something good. Do your own thing Margo. Love you. Grandmaman

Sydney has a lint thing too!! Expect she is scared of her toe lint, refuses to pick it out herself and makes me do it or she cries hysterically.. Strange child...

I love that face when they realize you might be laughing at them instead of with them.
