Month in Review

It's been so long since we've updated that the best I can offer to bring you all up to speed is a summary of what's happened:

1) A cold for everyone, and a New Year's Eve stomach flu for Mama.
2) A lot of last minute Mama crafting to get things ready for Christmas (I'm happy to report that most everyone got at least something handmade).
3) 5 flights with a baby who is far too big to not have her own seat.
4) 3 turkey dinners in one week.
5) Intense family time.
6) Many hours spent sitting with Margo's Grandma (my mom) in hospital.
7) A baby who still doesn't "get" Christmas. . Not a terrible thing to put that off for one more year, right?
8) One lost car seat (thanks WestJet!) and retribution by way of smooshed in dried blueberries (Thanks, Margo!)

Through it all, Margo was a trooper even though at times we were forced to push her to her max. She still managed smiles for everyone and shared lots of hugs and kisses. To our horror and dismay, we forgot Margo's Minou in Ottawa, but a quick thinking Mama picked up a replacement while at the Toronto airport and Margo didn't seem to notice. Pretty impressive, given that she hugs him to sleep every night. I would have thought she would be more attached. It's quite the relief. Here she is, all smiles as she admires herself in her funky new (old) Christmas jacket and footie PJs. She knows she's cute, I think.

One quick vignette, and then we start fresh for 2008. We arrived home on Dec 30th, battleworn and exhausted. Margo was plunked down on the floor in the living room at 9:45 pm. She had slept for all of 25 minutes that entire day. She went on to autopilot mode. She walked like a zombie, eyes half closed, and played with all her toys in the living room. From one thing to the next; it was as though she needed to get reacquainted. "Oh hello, blue rocking horse. Long time no see. Pile o'books? How you been? Wooden puzzle - you look mahvellous. . ." I admit I let her fumble around checking everything out longer than I should have.

It's good to be home!
