Childcare Update

Boy, childcare is a mixed blessing. By that, I mean that Margo loves it, and cackles when we drive up to Carmen's house. There's plenty to point at, in the span of four days, she has went from having trouble falling asleep at naptime, needing the caregiver to rub her back to falling asleep on her own, and from the top of the stairs, I see her when I pick her up, happily playing with the older kids, smiling a huge smile.

But she's awake for 12½ hours a day (not including a nap), commuting for 35 minutes, and at the dayhome for 9 hours. That leaves an hour in the morning, and two in the evening, for mama and papa to delight in her margoness. And to be honest, a lot of that is rushing around, getting her fed and bathed, changing her, and the other miriad of grooming chores. It really hits home when we realize that you're reading about the minor changes that WE used to pick up on in a black book that the caregiver uses to communicate how Margo's day went.

Something tells me that weekends and holidays are going to be cherished. That is, if we can keep her as entertained as 3-year-olds can.
