Maude Takes a Stand
A watched pot never boils. And trees that fall in forests do make a noise, but it's really whiny and complain-ey, so nobody ever listens. And Maude? Maude develops right under our noses.
In terms of development, Margo is a hard act to follow. Sucks to be No. 2, but we're cool... Maude will be Maude in her own time. But maybe we're too cool (that was rhetorical, not really up for commentary), because I think we occasionally forget that Maude will develop.
We looked away, turned back, and noticed that Maude was standing, clutching for dear stability to an Afghan thrown on a an Ottoman. And not for a split second... but for a good chunk of time.
Maude's legs are strong. It surprises me that it's taken her seven-and-a-half months to try standing. And yet, in a way, it doesn't surprise me, because Maude's thing is rocking, and when this babe's a rockin', ain't no stable foothold's gonna come a knockin'.
Donna's also noticing that she's moving from where we sit her down. Couple of feet... a metre. And true to her rocking nature, we think that the moving is in the form of bum scooting.
Sit... stand... walk... whatever; at least she's happy.

p.s. It wasn't until I wrote it down that I realized that the "Afghan" was on the "Ottoman," which is on our "Persian" rug. Geo-logically, our next home decoration purchase will have to be either Polish, Chinese or Pakistani.

Yea, Maude, you have surprises up your sleeves,eh,pretty baby?
I guess mama and papa and Margo are to busy to watch your every move.
Standing now,who knows maybe you will be walking before your year.
You might have a few things to show Margo yet.Margo will love it when you can walk or run. That will be fun, mama and papa will have to practive their quick moves.
It seems that you werejust born and already you are doing different things.
I love your laugh by the way,you do sound like a happy baby, but what about bedtime.
Love you.Grandmaman

Just to clarify, Maude is not standing up on her own. She can hold on and stay upright if we place her there, and she has something to hold on to . . she has been able to bear weight on her legs since she was maybe a few months old and has always had really strong legs. Better out than in, I say!
1:00 p.m.
Maybe all this standing will tire her out and she'll sleep? Maybe? She's some cute though!

Ah.. welcome to the bum scoot. It ain't pretty, but it gets the job done.. She's cute. They both are. You need to have a boy now to beat up their boyfriends.
