Strawberry Shortcake Nursing Blankets Bring Out the ("insert colour here") in Her Eyes

Sometimes, we watch Margo develop a new trait or physical characteristic over time. Putting her on her stomach, we were able to watch her head bob, and then she started lifting her head, and we watched it inch further upright over time. Now, with her head up, she's working on flipping over onto her back. It's a whole process.

Other times, she'll go to bed looking one way, and we'll notice a change by morning. Case in point: eyelashes.

I remember clearly Donna mentioning that Margo has very short lashes, and how it seems that only baby boys get the long eyelashes that you see on cutesy-wutesy diaper commercial baby actors. This morning, surveying her face, it struck me that LaDouce's eyelashes are starting to lengthen. I looked around her co-sleeper to see if there was any l'Oreal lash-lengthener or some other cosmetic solution. Nope, I think they just grew a little. In this close-up, you can also see that she inherited her father's dry skin. Being born and acclimatized to Ottawa's humid air, there's a small chance that she will just become one giant piece of dandruff when she hits the Manitoba and Saskatchewan air. It's a dry cold, but a dry desicated skin, too.

This close-up also brings up another point: eye colour. Beats me. Some days, she's blue-grey-green, some days, she's dark brown. When Grandma was here, she called Margo a traitor because her eye colour was well on its way to being blue, and Donna's family has a predominance of brown. These days, it's a real back-and-forth. Las Vegas oddsmakers are giving 5-2 on something in a shade of blue and 7-2 on a brown. My money is on the 19,000,000,000-1 odds that her eyes will become laser-shooting mirrors. Come on, freakshow! Baby needs a new pair of shoes!

- Michel

p.s. Baby doesn't actually need shoes. Baby might need manufacturers to not build baby monitors that cut out constantly, but she's good in the shoe category. For shame, Safety 1st Rechargeable Nursery Monitor (a subsidiary of Cosco Management, inc), for shame.
