Happy Birthday, Margo!

Dear Margo,

You are 2 today! I can't believe it!! You're amazing! I love your personality and how well your Papa and I know you . . . making your birthday shirt last night was so fun, anticipating your face when you opened it. You barely got past the Cat and the Hat wrapping paper, but once the shirt was free, you were a happy girl - "Hibou. I wanna put it on". You know your own mind; that is without question.
Papa wrote an entry last night that summed up alot about your personality these days. What more can I say?

2 years and my how you've grown. Physically, mentally, and away from me, I fear. Just two years ago we were connected by tissue and blood, and now you're so very much your own person. I worry often that I am not your preferred parental unit (Papa is way more fun and in the last few months, especially, far more available to you). Sometimes I worry that we had Maude a bit too soon . . being pregnant made me not able to do the things I would have liked to do with you this past summer . . .but then I see the two of you together, as I did last night when you helped Papa give Maude a bath, and I think . . wow. They're SISTERS. That's so special.

You try our patience on a daily basis, but thankfully, Papa and I are usually able to trade a bit of patience back and forth. When I lose my temper, he calms me down, and ditto for him. This generally works well.

Your favourite things these days are: Hibous (hence the birthday shirt), the Park, your friend Evan, Minou, and the thought of Cake. You'll get a dose of all of these things today, minus the park. Tomorrow we're going to take you to a forest where maybe you'll see an owl . You've been talking about this outing for days.

A birthday party is in the works too, likely when Grandmaman comes to visit in a few weeks. Mama is considering her cupcake options in the wee hours when she's awake with Maude.

I love you with all my heart, my big girl!!

- Mama
